Master Quilter & Award-Winning Fiber Artist

Beverly Huggins Kirk attended segregated elementary and high schools in Oklahoma as a youth. In 1992, she completed her college degree in business education from Langston University, Langston OK. Her graduate degree in Adult Education was earned from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, OK.

Her lifelong love of sewing led from taking classes to teaching locally. She is a Master Quilter, specializing in telling stories thru bold, colorful narrative quilts. Beverly is the founder of Oklahoma’s first African American Quilt guild (Scissor Tales Guild). Along with charitable giving and teaching, she has exhibited her work in shows, universities, and museum throughout Oklahoma and the United States winning numerous awards and acclaim.

Her quilts have been museum/publication featured in “Journey of Hope”, and “And Still We Rise” by Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi. She was also featured panelist at the James Museum and Western & Wildlife Art, St. Petersburg, FL.
